Looking for some advice here. I currently have an Ampeg Gemini II, Mesa Boogie Roadster and a Vox AD30VT and I'm looking for another amp to use for a mix between home practice, recording, small gigs and jam sessions with a drummer. As as FYI I am considering selling the Vox to make more space and get whatever extra coin it brings in. As for music styles I'm pretty much all over the place. Its quite hard to nail this all in one amp but I'd like to be able to cover warm jazz and blues tones (John Mayer and Simon McBride), clear cleans (This Town Needs Guns and RHCP), harder rock tones (Coheed and Cambria and Fall of Troy) and metal (Daath and As I Lay Dying). My Roadster can cop a lot of these tones but I'm looking for an amp with a bit less power as my Gemini doesn't cover a lot of ground without stompboxes. I prefer tube amps but I am not adverse to SS and modeling amps if they sound good to my ears. Price wise I'm willing to go as high as $1,200 but would prefer to keep it around $700 if possible. So any suggestions are welcome and if any more info is needed let me know.

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

That's a really wide range (you can't get wider then that really) and 700 is kinda low for that. I'd say a Soldano should get you the metal, rock, blues and clean tones you would want but it's obviously not a JTM45 in the cleans department... astroverb btw, if you could a SL60 but that's still a pretty big amp.

This is stuff I would be after. Based on some of the guitarists you mentioned and thinking you might like something with lots of mids I'm thinking Marshall. I didn't check Buffalo but man o man there is a ton of stuff on here:

I've never been a fan of the Spider line of amps but I haven't tried out the Vetta models so I'll give them a shot. Hopefully I'll dig it.

As I said $700 isn't my ceiling price but would be ideal. I'm willing to go higher if the amp is deserving. I'll look into Soldano amps. I've checked into them awhile back for the SLO model before I bought my Roadster but the price turned me off. I'll see what the astroverb has to offer along with the SL60 (it could possibly be tamed volume wise if needed).

Thanks for a lot of great links. I gotta admit I've been drawn away from Marshall's in the past few years (previously owned both TSL and DSL heads) but I'm definitely willing to get back into the brand again if anything works for me. Some of the amps mentioned are a bit to high on the wattage side for me though but I'm sifting through everything trying to make a short list of all the recommendations I've gotten so far.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. If anyone else has any recommendations please share.

Spent the last few days demoing amps a few shops in my area and I've come up with a new shortlist:

Bogner Alchemist
Egnater Renagade
Marshall DSL50
Marshall TSL60
Soldano Astroverb
Soldano Hot Rod 50

Some of these I'll definitely have to go used on which I don't mind. I'm really digging the Alchemist a lot and the Hot Rod. The Hot Rod ultimately may not be for me because of the lack of pristine cleans (could take some more experimenting) but its a brilliant brilliant amp.

I got to play a Hot Rod again the other day holy crap is that a damn fine amp. Not really for a bedroom guitarist. It is a lead amp that needs to be cranked. 3/10 on this amp is cranked. There is no quiet. Never played an Astroverb but I've heard good things. The DSL and TSL are OK but will not hold a candle to the Soldanos or the Renegade. The Alchemist is kind of a love/hate amp. I used to love the Alchemist head but now I really don't care for it.

My vote goes to the Renegade simply due to its all around versatility, 15/65 watt mode, dual power tube flavors, voice switches, just all around flexibility.
