...anyone else notice how steve carrell had bags under his eyes in the earlier seasons and then not in the later?

In one of the recent seasons (five maybe?) Michael says something akin to "and who knows how to get rid of those bags under your eyes?" and Pam answers "put a tea bag on them."

So...yeah. Mystery solved

My favorite show ever. Les than an hour till I get to see the new episode!

EDIT: And to those thinking the show will suck without Steve Carell, Michael is one of the worst characters of season 6, so I don't see that argument.

I've always found his shananigans entertaining but i think the show will be just fine without him I want to see more of Creed though...

The spanking scene was so hilarious. I honestly did not expect it at all, but it seems like a very Michael thing to do.

EDIT: about the replacement of steve carrell

I was asking everyone. I heard a while ago that John Lithgow was considered for the role, and I thought that would work out great.

Spanking scene was hilaaaaarious.

Michael needs to get married to Holly, Dunder Miffler needs to go out of business, everybody needs to move on to new jobs/lives. That's how this season/the series should end.

but Ricky Gervais would be awesome.

I'm pretty sure Will Arnett is going to be the replacer.

The promo said Ray Romano, Ricky Gervais, Arnett, and Jim Carey. Ray Romano isn't outgoing enough to be a good replacement for the boss, Gervais just won't do it as it won't work out the same, Carey is both too big-name and focusing more on serious stuff. Arnett would be perfect as he wouldn't be too similar to Michael Scott, but still provide a similar amount of funny. Plus, it would work out perfectly since his wife, Amy Poehler, is the star of Parks and Rec.

And yeah, it sucks that Steve Carell left, but if anyone is to replace him and keep the show going, it would probably be Arnett.

Discuss.

EDIT: As a sidenote, Michael laughing uncontrollably at the gift he gave to Oscar was probably my favorite Office moment since "Yours in professionalism, Nard Dog."

Bump because has anyone seen the new season yet? I think that it is pretty good so far, andy is a perfect fit without becoming Micheal2.0
#52
It's good that they're moving on and not trying to replicate Michael Scott. I'm enjoying it so far.

I agree, I was worried at first because Andy is the character most similar to Michael in the principal cast, but it's working out fabulously. At the end of episode one when he actually got the tattoo I knew it was good. Michael never would have done that.
Please excuse my godawful username. I was thirteen.

Is it just me, or is Jim intolerable? His entire disposition as of late is annoying as fuck.

If the show focused on him as much as it did before, I would agree... But he's sorta becoming a supporting character now. His character has developed as much as it can.
#58
^ I agree. I have had enough of Jim; however, it is nice to not have as a candidate for manager.

I'm liking this season a lot more than I thought I would.
Spader's character is great and not the central focus of every episode (like I dreaded he would be).
Andy is doing a great job as manager, too.

The only characters I really can't stand are Pam and (sort of) Jim.

No but I still feel like I have to watch it for whatever reason.

It's a completely different show.

I mean, Kevin and the turtle? Dwight cutting off a person's hand? Really? Who thought that was a good idea?

Oh lord, this thread was created in such innocent times. We knew it was going down hill, but we still stuck with it. We had no idea just how bad it was about to get.
Thank God it's ending this season.

It's the "beginning of the end" apparently with last night's episode.

Last night's episode was the first in a long time that had some realistic emotion. It wasn't a great episode or anything but it was worth noting solely because it attempted to do something other than "here's some stupid cheap humor and some relationships that nothing ever bad happens to so you don't have to worry about caring about them anymore" which seems to have been the gameplan the past few seasons. It was kind of refreshing.

I was reading this article/interview with the director or creator or some dude in charge who said they were going to bring Andy back and have some Erin/that one new guy/Andy tension which I don't care about. Michael is apparently not coming back for the finale, but Ryan and Kelly are.

I dunno. I'm ready for it to be over but i'm glad they're trying something newish.

I didn't even notice Ryan and Kelly had left.

I actually kind of am interested in the Erin plot. At first I didn't like "new Jim" but he has grown on me.
