I've got a tank in my room. Currently has 2 goldfish and 2 Shubunkins. I'm looking for another Shubunkin, though

Anyone else here have a pond or fish tank? I guess that some of you will have Koi?

Share tips, thoughts etc Pics are always nice

Anything that lives in water, basically.

Yay! Here's a bit of info.
Well the thing you need to know about semi-aquatic turtles is that they need a lot of care and attention especially with the temperatures in air and the water temperature. So if you buy one for about 10 bucks, like my red-eared slider, then expect it to be quite expensive.

They need many things like a large enough tank, 20 gallons should be fine if the turtle is small but they may need a tank as big as 100 gallons, the more room the better, basking lamp, basking light bulb, good quality filter, as they are extremly messy, fresh water plants, gravel, it can't be too small or the turtle might eat it and choke, a log or basking stand, a gravel vacuum so you don't have to carry the tank. They need to have plenty of room to swim, have dry land and a basking area. If you live in an area that's cold then you may need a submersible heater. The warmth regulates their body temperature and bodily functions.

Keep this in mind if you want a turtle, also they can live up to 30 years and mine just turned 3. Hope this helps!

I love how enthusiastic you were. It was like you were the "Star Trek" guy and someone asked you to explain how they travel through space.

I'm named after my cousin's fish.

Actually, after brief reflection, I'm almost certain it's the other way round.

I don't know I think they fell off or I must have lost them

Anyway to stay on subject remember to change the plants as the turtle will eat them.

I used to keep 'Oscars' or 'Astronotus ocellatus' a species of fish from the cichlid family.

They're great, especialy when kept in pairs, and probably the most intelligent fish you can keep in a tropical tank. They're highly predatory and anything smaller that them in the tank is known as 'lunch' and they grow to about one foot long. You can condition them to take food from your hand (juveniles will actualy leap out of the water and snatch food pellets from your hand) and they will actualy come to recognise their owner (or at least the person who feeds them) swimming towards the owner's hand and even allowing the owner to stroke them, but shunning the hands of anyone else.

There really is no point in putting plants in an oscar tank though, they just uproot them all the time, infact anything that an oscar takes a dislike to will be attacked, which reminds me of an incident.
I was sitting watching the oscars one night when one of them grabbed the heater, which was in a glass tube. It pulled it off its fixtures and shook it and before I could react in time it had broken the glass tube. There was a sudden flash from the tank and all the lights in the house went out. So I fumbled in the dark, unplugged the power to the fishtank and mended the blown fuse so I could see what the damage was, fully expecting to see two dead fish, to my surprise the brutes were swimming around as if nothing had happened, after that I bought a tough plastic guard for the heater, which they still managed to remove from it's fixtures and shake around (seriously, they're like puppies with a pull toy) so I ended up putting it under some flat stones and directing a current via a filter under it to circulate the heat.

I sold them when I moved house, but I'm actualy thinking of getting some more.

True, but it's useful if you happen to have run out of fish food and you're either broke or the shops are closed.

I used to have 2 baby pirahnas. We would go buy the really small fish that cost like 10 for a dollar and feed them a few at a time. Was pretty fun to watch. Eventually we moved and they died though.
