This is going to sound extra-ordinarily dumb, but ordinary guitar polish really upsets my chest. Nearly every time I've polished my bass, my chest feels tight afterwards and I wheeze like a 40-a-day smoker. I've tried polishing my bass outside for the ventilation, but that doesn't help.

So, are there any alternatives to guitar polish that won't upset my chest so badly? I'm using the Dunlop polish (this stuff ). My bass is a 1976 vintage so I can't use anything too harsh on it.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

I'm fairly sure this could be a bad idea if you have a nitro finish.
