I wouldn't use a Tube screamer in the same context as a distortion pedal, ie in front of a clean channel. It's more for pushing your already overdriven amp further and giving it a tighter, more aggresive tone.

That being said I'd take Big Muff over any of those other pedals you mentioned any day.

From what I hear of bands that play grunge. They tend to use boss pedals. As Chris Broderick say "I wouldn't endorse a product that doesn't sound good. Or else I'd get sued".

Well yeah, Kurt Cobain used a Boss but he had tube amps... most kids today just throw a DS-1 in front of their Fender Frontman and assume it's going to be Nirvana in a box.
