Sup everybody my name is DjChrispy and I created Audiosurf! Audiosurf is an all-instrumental project I have spent the past year creating. It is a blend of Buckethead and surf rock. I call it progressive surf fusion and it's totally psychadellic!

Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/audiosurfmusic

Or download Audiosurf totally free at the Newgrounds Audio portal!

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/search/title/audiosurf

And here is a video of the very first Audiosurf show!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdA5RQHGi8U

If I had to pick one song to define what you should expect more of, it would be my song Electric Euphoria. Get it right here: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/360749

Enjoy

Ill be honest man, I'm not digging some of it. It's not my thing. But "No Reflection" is SICK AS HELL!

I made sure there was a song in there for everybody. Some are fast and some are slow, just like in the genre of surf. But all of them are totally psychadellic.

Chrispy, at first I wasn't sure. The more I listened the more I get it. Sometimes you are a little out of tune, sometimes your lead notes aren't even in the same key...but it all seems to fuse together somehow.

No one else plays this surf stuff anymore, so you have a niche. But for surf music like this you need more than anything........a real amp and guitar. For this type of music Fender amps like a Twin Reverb would completely change your tone. That dripping wet Fender reverb would smooth out your tone. I would also get a surf green Strat. I know that requires a financial outlay, but that cheap harsh Crate is killing your tone and I like what is trying to come through.. I feel like I am back in the 60's at one of those California beach parties! Keep it up.

I Think you need to write a flamenco/surf fusion song and call it
"wahales (Spanish for whales) of jupiter"
or a surf funk fusion song and get a Barry White style singer and call it, "mermaid luuuuuuuuvvvve"

I'm guessing that you've only been playing about 6 months, right?
My advice is just to get some lessons and try and get some basic techniques right so that you can play something that's even remotely musical.
You can build from there. Within a couple of years you might even be good enough to play rhythm guitar in a band.
Just my .2c FWIW and best of luck with whatever you do.

Actually, I have been playing for 5 years and teaching for about 3 1/2. I got Pro Tools in November, so the experience has been amazing creating this music. I have learned so much about theory, recording, editing, and creating music over the past year, that I can safely say that over the course of the next year I will be pumping out some pretty amazing music.

I have a lot of options right now but I am having a lot of fun giving my music away for free to people all over the world. I got a fan on Newgrounds today from the Netherlands, man. the Netherlands. Craziness. Damn man I am so frustrated with Myspace. I have lost so much quality time trying to sort out all the madness and bugs these ****ers are letting loose.

I upgraded to their new artist 2.0 profile and now I can't change anything. Anything. Arrrggghhh I made the changes and saved them, but the Audiosurf page you see is so old man. It seriously says all the new stuff I want it to say but doesn't save. And of course Facebook still hasn't really gotten on the music bandwagon. Thank you Newgrounds! I have been using that site since I was 14 and created my cartoon series "DBZFAN" about a kid who gets superpowers and has to save the world! http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/125086

Unfortunately even still, Newgrounds takes a little effort to go find someone's music. Guess I'm just gonna have to drop the coin and get my website up already :P

But to all you musicians out there, put some of your stuff up on the Newgrounds.com audio portal. You will get reviewed and judged by people all over the world. It's really cool.

By the way, every single sound you hear in my songs is organic. (Except drums). Every sound effect or piece of music was either created by my Yamaha Strat, My Ibanez V-Series Acoustic Electric, my mic, or my Dean Cherrywood bass. There are no keyboards, synthesizers, or borrowed sound effects. You are hearing a direct input from my brain!

Here is an interview that was done on me. These dudes drove 3 hours from San Diego to film it. Here is part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4xijxlhFIE&feature=related
and here is part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtuCf0AenxM&feature=related

And that Kiss pic is epic. That's from the madness over at Harmony Central, I'm guessing :P

God I wish I could change it. Like I said, I go into options and change everything and the page is still the same layout it was in December of '09. Trust me, I'd love to change it. **** Myspace.

The videos from the very first live (band-style) Audiosurf show are up! Astro and I played our hearts out for some little vintage store with a freakin' amazing bathroom. It was like the mecca of bathrooms. Anyways,

It was a blast man. Unfortunately about an hour and a half into the show my A-string broke. And of course I bought a pack of stringz before the show and then when we all switched cars I left them in the glovebox. So we played the last half hour with only 5 strings. Basically since the others came out of tune when it happened I had to ear out a high and low E string and play with mostly just those two. Thank you for Miserlou, Dick Dale!
