Right, you horrible lot. My mother has just been out gardening, and she spotted this creature. It is the one that I've circled that looks like a stick. It is not a stick, as we've run several scientific tests (poked it a bit), and it's actually alive, and holding onto the wall there with it's mouth, like a leech.

So, because you're all experts on this subject, I thought I'd enlist you to identify it. Go!

No, you're right.

It's just a STICK WITH LONG ASS LEGS. That's totally not creepy.

Don't panic, I'm a biologist! I need a more detailed picture to give you a definitive answer, but from what I can see it looks like a species of the Phasmida indeed. There's over 9000 different species of those though, so please forgive me for not knowing which one this is .

It's either a stick insect, or just a stick

Being a cautious fellow, I call balderash and declare it a stick which you think moved due to a trick of the light. Either that, or you're severely dehydrated.

Unless evidence convinces me otherwise - inanimate stick.

It's not about what it does, but about the proximity to the target .

Right, here's some more pictures. It is actually alive, as it's reared itself up to look at our poking stick. I wasn't quick enough to capture that though, but you can see it's curled up in a way that a stick wouldn't do. Unless this is a new breed of flexi-twig.

Could those be legs, on the left hand side of it?

I took some videos too, which involved shaking the piece of paper, but it decided to play dead. So unless you want videos of me trying to annoy my new find, whilst telling it "move, or they'll think I'm mad!" I'll leave that.

I'm off to eat now, anyway, so I'll see what you've got to say when I get back. No, I'm not eating that thing <_<

Stick insects are the ****in gshit, although I've never seen one like that. And when they are long they are ****ing creepy.

Edit: I'm not sure what that is now.

Looks like it may be a caterpillar, or it could be a stick insect. I dunno.
