A complex computer worm has infected the personal computers of staff at Iran's first nuclear power station, the official IRNA news agency reported.

However, the operating system at the Bushehr plant - due to go online in a few weeks - has not been harmed, project manager Mahmoud Jafari said.

The Stuxnet worm is capable of seizing control of industrial plants.

Some Western experts say its complexity suggests it could only have been created by a "nation state".

For those of you who haven't been following the news, a few days ago a computer worm hit a very large amount of computers in Iran (see: this article). Some experts say it's been designed by a 'nation state' and might be the beginning of digital offensive measures.

I'm curious of who did it, and why. Maybe someone wanted to disrupt the nuclear power station, who has anything to gain from that?

I'd say that's a pretty large field for gain.

I doubt it was N.Korea....but there have been so many people and countries against this nuclear power plant it's hard to say who planted it.

No one likes them either

Pretty interesting story. If it's discovered to have come from another government then it could be the start of something huge

Id say Israel is the most likely candidate too. They'll be the first in the firing line if Iran develops nuclear weapons

So, theoreticaly, as it can 'seize control of industrial plants', It could cause a nuclear meltdown?

I see why a nation would want this.

That means North Korea has no scientists/people who could have pulled this off.

I know it probably wasn't. I just jumped from nuclear to korea.
From an actually educated guess, I'd say Israel or a nation of close ties to them.
Didn't their Atomic Representative come out the other day ( ) and say that Iran is the only nation in the Middle East that is holding up the "Nuclear Free" ideology that they all have over there?
