I use Jazz III's just like everyone else likes to.
But I actually have a question. I went to a music store about a week ago and asked to try out a guitar. They said "Sure, what kind of picks do you like?" I said "Jazz III's" and they said "Nylon or Ultex" I always bought the red one's (Nylon) mostly cause they were easier to find in stores and when you lose them LOL. But I bought a couple Ultex ones and didn't notice much difference except it seemed a little more solid with a little less grip. What is the basic difference to you guys?

don't use picks, they suck tone.

tone is in your fingers!

I also use teh Ultex. They last much longer than the Tortex.

But why in teh biscuits does Dunlop have such a fetish for turtles?

I usually use either Snarling Dogs Brain Picks .73mm, Dunlop Tortex .88mm, Eric Johnson Jazz III's or Tortex Jazz depending on what I'm playing. I can't stick to only one pick, although Jazz III's are the ones I use the most.

I think I have some Ultex (?) Jazz IIIs laying around. The clear yellow ones. I hate them. Nylon Jazz III for me, kthx. Although, I want to try an Eric Johnson signature and one of the grip ones but they pretty much don't exist here.

^WAAAAAAAT!?!>

I love Ultex. Them Jazz IIIs are too small for me.

Well, I use Jazz III's. People say they are microscopic and hard to use, but those people have to get used to them, once you actually use them, they begin to feel more like an extension of your hand and they literally FORCE you to play better

Ultex is way better than nylon bro. Lasts longer, feels better, and is slightly bigger, but still not normal pick size.

I don't really dig the Eric Johnsons. Give me an Ultex Jazz III any day.

I just felt their attack was a bit too sharp and harsh and it was a bit more slippery IIRC. I may give them another shot if I ever find one of them. The gnomes have probably been at them by now.

Snarling Dog Brain Picks .88mm/Black

Been looking to try something new. I've been using Snarling Dog picks for a while now. I have a tin of all the sizes. I really like the grip.

Dunlop Tortex Sharp 1.35mm.
I only buy them because they're black, and that makes them more br00tz.
I also use the purple and the white (one size bigger and one size smaller) depending on how I feel.

Ultex sharp 1.14 or fender heavy. They feel similar, with the ultex being a bit more aggressive maybe. Celluloid has smooth attack, never liked tortex.

Tortex Jazz.

Nothing else.

Actually that's a lie, I occasionally use a normal Jazz III when I can't find my tortex Jazz, or my .73 dunlop nylon when I'm recording some rhythm tracks, as well as various other nylon dunlops.

The pick gnomes have yet to grab hold of my only Tortex Jazz. What makes it's special is that it's a real deep purple. The logo and text have worn off of it but it's still in great shape. Had it for about half a year. I'd like to buy some more but the guitar store hasn't had them since I got mine.

I really want to try the Ultex Jazz III's. Apparently they're made of people

.73 Nylon Dunlop's. I went to Guitar Center like a month and a half ago when I first started playing and they recommended those...I gotta try some other picks.
