So I was supposed to go grab this from the Boston Guitar Center a while ago. I've had it on layaway for a while. When I saw the ad go up in the used section...I called immediately. I didn't have enough money for it last month but I made sure I had enough before the layaway passed since...I would never find this price on this guitar again.

check it out!

What a sexy case! This has got be like maybe the third Gibson Custom case that's rolled through here this year? I don't really know why Gibson does that actually. My PRS and Anderson cases are bare. Gibson has a huge ass Gibson brand on the side. Hey look steal me!

Oh what's this?

stop tail and a bridge? and a pick-guard?? eww. what's that selector doing there?

yum. nice booty. that grain be poppin.

look i'm on a space ship.

well of course it has f-holes.

two f-holes.

What a beauty huh? A Gibson Custom Shop CS-336. A little baby 335...only without the laminate. 1 piece carved back and side. 2 piece book-matched plain maple cap. These things sell for about 3k new. To be honest the first time that I played one was after I had gotten my hollowbody spruce. I didn't think the guitar was worth 3000 at all compared to the prs. However, at 1200, this guitar is a beauty. I really needed a semi-hollow to fill the last spot in my collection and I like this guitar way more then I like a 335. It's lighter then my lp but not by too much. I'd say 6 pounds? Maybe 7. It's heavier then the spruce just barely. Dimension wise it's bigger then the lp but smaller then the spruce. Heavier then my lightest guitar by a good 2 pounds.

Anyhow. Here are some clips. Oh ya. Somebody at the GC strung this thing up with flatwound 10s are something. Ridiculous. I can't play on that so these clips are what they are. I'll make some new clips tomorrow once I grab my proper set of 12-60s from my tech.

Let's take a look inside!

Oh man look at those cute patent applied for stickers! I whipped out my multi-meter. LOL. 9k 8k bridge neck. Lol. vintage. Ya those are going bye bye.

Let's see what I have in my box of toys.

err nailbombs, a miracleman, a bg smokestack, a guitarforce something. I decided on MM bridge at 18k and a nailbomb neck at 10k.

Like 7 hours later...no seriously at the epiphone factory in china having to work on f-hole wiring is a fate worse then death.

I recorded some new clips.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7394209/336swap.mp3

That's all for now. I gotta set this thing up tomorrow. It's got neck relief. ew. and 10s. and those gross gibson vomit colored tuners. who buys these things new. confused.

alright like i promised tom.

Put a set a of twelves on the 336.

336 has miracleman/nailbomb hb spruce has warpigs. i was originally going to leave the amp the same but now i realize that doesn't work because of the pickup output differences you'll have to mentally umm lower the presence on the spruce clips. Also I'm pretty sure the action is really off on it so when I'm fretting out it's because all my strings are touching all the frets. whoops. Don't want to deal with it anymore today. Maybe tomorrow.

slo reamps.

Cool, I have quite a soft spot for red 335 style guitars.

But nailbombs in a 335? really?

I know the nailbombs are way weak in the neck. It's only a 10k neck. .
The warpigs in my spruce are like 23 17. It's a much better match.

Hey I had to take the covers off the Gibson pickups and put them on the other pickups. I decided that silver matched better then black.

Looks great AM.

those 1st clips were way too trebly but the BKP sounded good, much better.

I see what you mean about it being smaller than the 335.

Great find though.

you know..every gibson pickup i've ever heard has been way to trebly. like i didn't use the treble knobs on my amps at all until a few months ago when I got a few more bare knuckles. I think it's a low output thing. Anything below 10k and I can't stand the treble response. I need to turn my treble all the way down and then some.

oh man I almost bought an ibanez today on ebay . that one we looked at earlier.

hmmmm something says you might have gotten pretty bored of the ibby pretty damn quick though

i cant say i have played enough hollow body gibsons to haver noticed, but i would imagine with the construction of that 336 its going to be ice picky though.

nice. at $1200 thats a great deal. never played one honestly but you can hardly go wrong with a cs gibby.

Looks beautiful dude. Almost as good looking as this supreme pizza.

It's about time I get a semi-hollow... sadly it won't be as impressive as yours.

Nevermind, I burnt the pizza. The 550 degrees was supposed to crispify the crust, unless you space it out. ****.

Your guitar wins.

sweet I was wondering about the grain on the back, i was going to say, "aren't they maple?", but then you said it was a 336, so that explains it.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Didn't think those pickups would sound that good in a hollowbody. Very nice sir!
