Yeah, maybe ha. I saw them at a gig with a bunch of hardcore bands at this local show (breakdown after breakdown...) but Northlane were SO much better in comparison.

Can you link me what you reckons some of the best in Sydney?

Australian Hardcore sucks. Like really sucks. The skramzy / punk scene is great though, from what I can tell.

Extortion is great, but you know they don't fit into "Australian Hardcore"

We have a lot of great screamo and some really cool punk bands, and we have a few good actual hardcore bands. But I'll agree that what people consider to be "Australian Hardcore" ie shitty metalcore, really sucks.

I actually enjoyed that. ^

I like how Jack posted this a year ago about the new album and it's still not gonna be released till next month.

EDIT: *goes into turntable room* song that plays after me is the one posted above.

Their CD release show is literally next to my old school, 5 minutes from my house. I'm there

The only good band with the word "North" in their name:

How did I know they were gonna be called Northstar?

Bumping this thread because the new album has been destroying my brain for weeks now. Holy shit, anyone who enjoys Misery Signals, get Discoveries now. Such a ridiculously heavy metalcore album, and super proud of these guys for not just sticking to the template like so many others.

They would be better if they didn't try to incorporate the whole djent nonsense. The highs also sort of ruin it for me.

Highs aren't amazing, but his lows are good enough for me to just be glad he has a range, and I'd rather they used at least minorly djenty riffs instead of just chuggachugga stuff like the rest of the scene atm. I get what you mean, I'm just saying... It's kinda like making the best of a bad situation.

I'd love to know where they'll be in 5 years

Listened to the songs Magero posted and was pretty amazed. Much better than the rest of the Australian metalcore scene to be honest. Parkway Drive stopped being fun for me a long time ago...

Video has been taken down because account associated with this video has posted material owned by Sumerian Records and Rico Management.

When a band has that happen to them I always like to think it's because they ripped off parts of songs wholesale in their own.

Of course i have no way of backing this up.

Bump because I want Magero's input.

Is Singularity underwhelming for anybody else?

It is for me. It reminds me so much of A Plea for Purging for some reason that I end up wanting to listen to them more. I also feel like this record is nothing but slowjams. There is not one super heavy, super fast song. Not that they play fast any way. It's just a really one speed album.
