So, i joined a new band with very professional/extremely talenter players. The band is pretty much the epitome of my realistic dreams. However, one of their songs is laid to rest by lamb of god. You will have to know the song to understand my troubles. I have always had trouble with it and only ever learned like the first 30 seconds. But this week i had to learn it. I dont do too bad except i had to modify the fast end section before the final breakdown but it still works ok. Howver i have trouble with the verse. Its fairly fast and by the second time you play the verse my hand just cant handle the end. I know very confusing but tl/dr how can i either get stronger quickly so i can play it or does anyone know of an easier way to play the verse?

Thanks, and once again i know my message is very confusing

damn no help in 30 minutes?

id just play it a lot to build up stamina

when you play it try not to stop, just kinda force yourself to keep playing... but not to the point where you hurt yourself of course

Most of the forum are US or UK. It is just past 7am in the UK and a lot of the US are probably in bed. Half an hour isn't a long time to wait for an answer even when the forum is in it's 'peak' hours.

The phrase 'practice makes perfect' really does come to mind here. There's no other way around but to keep playing until you have it down. The more you practice it the stronger your hands will be and the easier it becomes. I found it really hard when I first started to learn it, you've just gotta stick at it.

I recently formed a band with a couple of extremely talented friends as well, and one of our songs for our first show is laid to rest. I used to have the same problem.
And THENN I realized that if I can play GRACE by lamb of god, Laid to Rest is nothing. took me about 50 minutes to get it down. Keep on tryin man, practice makes perfect.

Thanks to all of you. I can play it right but i just have trouble playing it over and over again like the song does. Hell, i even skip a small section to make it easier on my hand. I guess itll just have to be alot of practice

Grind grind grind grind grind.

Seriously, just keep going at it and dont stop until you learn it. Annoy the hell out of everybody if you have to, but don't stop until you got it. I like playing things out of my skill level because then everything else before will seem like hot cross buns.

I love Laid to Rest by the way, I might try learning it soon now that you brought it up

Yeah, but think of how rewarding it'll be once you got it down and can play it in front of people. There will be a dude somewhere that points at you says "man, I want to play like THAT guy someday".

Once thing to do when having problems doing a cover is master the song a bar at a time. Get the first bar mastered and then move onto the next 1.

I don't really understand why basses have 24 frets, I mean, I've never seen a bassist playing more than the 12 fret.
