Please don't kill me for asking, but if the pickup selector was to be pointed upwards (closest to me), would the "Neck Pickup" be selected? If so, what's the opposite, and if it is, what's the opposite? Thanks

a standard setup for LP style pup selectors with 2 pups is:

up: neck pup

middle: a single coil from both neck and bridge pups

down: bridge pup

for a tele style

right: bridge pup

middle: both neck and bridge pups

left: neck pup

easiest way is just to grab a screwdriver and tap in the pole. if you hear noise, that pickup is selected, if not, it isn't.

it can be both humbuckers, or it could just be a single coil from both. more commonly i find it's a single coil from both. using a single coil allows for more even output (as using both coils on the humbuckers would increase output noticeably) and allows for purposeful selection of coils for canceling the 60 cycle hum from the pups.

Standard Les Paul wiring isnt a coil from each, the switches cant do that. You need a 4P3T switch to do that.
