So I was listening to Working Man, by Rush and the way Lifeson plays on it (the riffs and solos) really reminded me of Tony Iommi. Another tune I listened to was Big Girl Blues by Tribal Tech, and there were times where Scott Henderson's playing really reminded me of SRV.

I was wondering if anyone could name some other times where a guitarist or bassist has put you in mind of another? Obviously, no covers, since that defeats the whole point.

Edit: Oh, and inb4 snide accusations of plagiarism.

There's a solo in a Steel song which, I swear, is ripped off from a Dire Straights song. Conveniently, I've forgotten the names of both songs.

OP, if that were the case, Morello would be sounding like Lifeson.
Never the other way around.

Sorry, what?

I heard Zoltan Bathroy sound like Marty Freidman when he was still with Megadeth in the song Canto 13. one of the solos confused me.

Everyone in Tech death ripping off Paul Masvidal.

Incidentally, he's appropriating the work of Alan Holdsworth.
