So heres the deal.

I have an Ibanez Rg7321. I just bought a Seymour Duncan Blackout 7 for the bridge. This is an active pickup. It comes with 25K pots, and everything to set it up (except I have to find myself a soldering gun).

Heres my question: I am going to be installing that pickup, but is it possible to run my passive neck pickup and my active bridge pickup? Or am I just going to have to deal with not having a neck pickup for a little while? (Not really an issue to be honest, i'm a rhythm guitarist in my band)

i'm pretty sure Guitar World did something on this a while ago, and as long as they passive/active pickups are only wired at the output together, it's no biggie. But don't quote me on that.

Ask in GB&C, you'll get more help there.

You need independent volume/tone controls for each pickup. Meaning, you need 4 pots.
2 will be your standard 500K for the passive, 2 will be 25K for the active.

To be able to use them together, menaing, the middle position, the passive pickup will need a buffer. EMG makes one.

Otherwise, you can use them by themselves fine if they have independent controls.
