ive been playing for about 9 months and don't really know any chords. so should i just start with chord progressions or maybe should i start with some really easy songs that have just chords?

learn songs with chords i them that way you leanr some chords
you could also look up some hord theory such as build chords and junk

There's an awesome lesson on here about building chords, which you should most definitely check out. Otherwise, check out some songs that sound like they have unusual chords and chord progressions, and try to learn em.
