Yes it can, with it taking so long it could be the biggest dissapointment ever, ten years is a long time, long enough to make G'n'R sound dated I'm not expecting great things from this album TBH.

Still, it will have the hype of Velvet Revolver at least if not more. Therefore, if Axl gets it out, he's bound to make tons of money.

Axl should just start a different band. I mean even Duff said it. He said that Paul Mcartney doesn't go 'round calling himself the Beatles, so Axl shouldn't go 'round calling them Guns N' Roses. It's not GNR without Duff, Izzy, and Slash!

But you never know, it could be better without Duff, Izzy, and Slash. I think pretty much any bassist could pull of what Duff did for the band, and though Slash's leads will be missed, the new guitarists could easily make much better music. The only one Axl will never be able to replace is Izzy's songwriting genius.

Its not GNR without Steven Adler either. Izzy said so himself in an interview. Replacement Matt Sorum's drumming was what shred is compared to real rock and roll: technically superior, and with none of the feeling.
It doesn't even have to be new, I'd take an old one, even from like 1959 or something...

That was the wrong thing to say in this forum. You're probably safe here because the real shred zealots hate GnR, but avoid saying that elsewhere in this forum.

Then get out of this forum. I don't care if you (foolishly) hate shred, but don't say it here. Ignorance of shred's emotion is not tolerated in here by me, and it is not tolerated by Asomodai.

Thank you.

^ bangoodcharlote does have a good point, but you gotta remember theres alot of people that come into this forum solely for GN'R, including me.....though i have the sanity not to put down shred in the shred forum(seeing as ive never listened to shred in my life, which i should soon do something about)

on a lighter note, what does everybody think of the video for Don't Cry? personally, i thought that though it kind of put me off at first, i can see how it relates to the song. any comments on that?

I had the same beliefs as most of you that Slash is unique, and a guitar God, and irreplaceable when it came to GN'R, but as i got a little older I came to realize that with every one unique lead singer ther are at least twenty great guitar players, drummers and bass players. The only member of GN'R that would totaly change the sound of GN'R to were its unrecognizable by leaving the band, would be Axl Rose. Dont get me wrong I think Slash is one of the best guitarist to come out of the 80's, but the new GN'R album will still sound like GN'R regardless of whether or not its disco or polka. Also any GN'R fan should check out Duff's believe in me, i never see anyone talking about that.

i know its probably not being discussed now, pg 6 but on the first page people were wondering about who sung certain songs.

what about dust n bones on the live era cd? its definitely not axl singing when all the music stops. is that izzy?

i really don't think their new album will sound like classic GNR just because Axl is there (i think thats what u meant) coz it isnt just Axl that makes GNR (even tho Axl likes to think that) without Slash and Duff they are nothin!

You might be right about great singers being the rarest commodity, but to say Chinese Democracy will sound like "GNR" just because the singer from GNR sings on it, thats way off. What is called Guns N Roses became famous in the form of five specific people (Duff Izzy Slash Steven and Axl). When they fired Steven, the band started sounding worse. When Izzy quit, it got even worse. Now hopefully after so much production this record will sound good, but it DEFINITELY will not sound anything like GNR in their prime. You can listen to the songs Madagascar and Chinese Democracy which are the only ones released from the album ( i think), and you will see that it sounds nothing like GNR. Axl should not be using that name.

If youre going to mention Duff you may as well mention them Izzy and Steven. Its not like there exists some way to rank members of a band by importance, it would be very dumb to think of it that way. Axl and Slash tend to get most credit, but the rest were undeniably just as crucial in making GNRs classic albums.

fair point, but i think Slash actually has his own particular sound and without him they can't produce the same Guns N' Roses sound (i didnt mean to bring up Duff sorry, lol)

ok ok, whoever said that when steven adler left they started making "not so good music" is a moron, when they hired Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed, they totaly evolved into something sooo much better than Appetite For Destrection.

........um, no.

Compare the drumming a song like Rocket Queen, Sweet Child O mine or essentially anything else off of AFD and lies, to Sorums monotonous lines from UYI, and if you really think sorum is better then you need to clean out your ears. Sorum's only accomplishment is the You Could Be Mine intro, all the other hits he plays on are irrelevent to drums, he is just keeping the bead. Adlers drumming drives the band, Sorum just chops it up.

We know Axl didn't make all the songs, but he did make about 75% of the Use Your Illusions and everyone got credit on Appetite. And your right, a good rock band is nothing without a "rippin" guitarist, and because Slash doesn't do anything special on the VR album, VR blows it out the ass.

wow i think that Izzy needs to start gettin mor credit. i mean not to undermine slash or anything its just that many ppl view him as the "other guitarist." He was the main songwriter and defientely held rythm like no other. The most obvious proof of this was that the band disintegrated after left(right after they finished USe ur illusion2). Saghetti incident? nah...
He is an excellent guitarist and he sings good too (dust N' bones).

Also another person who deserves credit is Adler. Although i do not disagree with the band's decision to fire him (his drug habbit made him impossible to work with), it is a pity that he left. The supreme drumming of adler in songs such as mr. Brownstone or roquet queen or mama kin are generally superior to Sorum's drumlines. Sorum isnt a bad drummer (double talkin jive and you could be mine show that he has skill) its just that he isnt as good as the guy he replaced.

o well enuff said from me. AFD and GNFN'R forever
