Well, I don't want to sound mean and discouraging, but Dutch is a hell of a hard language to learn if you want to master it. A good basic knowledge of Germanic languages will get you a good start though, especially German.

I've been told this by people who are fluent many a time. Still I'm going to give it a try- I do know enough German to understand a basic conversation.

On top of that, it sounds gross too

not liking it at all!
its too damn cold and snow + cold = slippery roads and delays of trains i have to catch everyday, summer can't come soon enough for me lol
only happy if there would be enough snow so that i wont have to go to school
what about you?

Aah, finally. The first one has been in a coma for months....

So Dutchies, how are you all dealing with the snowy conditions?

Luvin' it, although my hands have been freezing off lately. It's time to get my ice skates out of the attic....

What are your thoughts on the rejection of the idea of the football (or soccer, if you will) wordl champions in the Netherlands?
To be frank, I'm kinda pleased. I don't think it will do the country any good. It would've made us more famous though, but some of the things Fifa claims are plain ridiculous...

^ glad it didn't happen as well, would have been awesome on one hand, but the FIFA stands for pretty much everything that I don't agree with. I would have been very surprised if they hadn't picked Russia and Quatar, they where the obvious choices moneywise.

Well, I can't be bothered. I love football, but I'd watch it in a pub with some beer like usual anyway.

Quatar's been chosen for the winter olympics, right? That is beyond me. From what I've heard, the winter olympics are basically going to be in a gym court, after which all of the material will be sent to africa, because...

FIFA also did Woodstock back in the days.

Well, that was semi-related, I guess.

AHA! Another advantage of the Netherlands. Alcohol at the age of 16, hard liquor at 18, tobacco at 16, marijuana at 18 - all legally

I went to Amsterdam when I was 8. I don't remember much of it but it was nice there Hopefully I can go back someday.

^I was supposed to celebrate it at my grandparents' , but my folks are afraid to drive with the predicted icing on the roads, so it looks like it'll just be me and a bag of pepernoten. Damn snow

So, you guys ready for Sinterklaas? Teehee.

I won't be celebrating it this year. Oh look at me being non-conformist

Nah, my grandparents are from Germany, so we're having Christmas instead of Sinterklaas each year. Not both, since we're poor bastards

Tomorrow: band rehearsal in winter wonderland!

In fact, it is. Bavaria/Hertog Jan/Grolsch is the way to go

Bavaria? Are you kidding me? That stuff tastes like liquid rim jobs.

We celebrated Sinterklaas yesterday. Got some stuff for when I move out (which isn't soon), a book about Andre Hazes and underwear. All in all not a great year.

I'm planning on doing this as well, last year was amazing although scorching hot
EDIT:

Fµck Werchter.
I'm going to Pukkelpop.

It's either Werchter or Pukkelpop for me, since Lowlands was sold out
I guess it depends ion where my friends are going
DOUBLEDIT:
As for the beer discussion, I'm more of a Grolsch guy personally. It's not liquid gold, but pretty decent and cheap, whilst completely beating Heineken. Hertog Jan is a close second. Jupiler would be 2nd if the bottles wouldn't be smaller

Huh, so what's it take to become a dutch citizen? I don't know if I'd move there necessarily, but I can't stand this shithole named America, and will most likely be moving somewhere else. Too many christian fundamentalists here for my own good.

A lot, lately there has been a lot of discussion on our immigration services. I'm not sure exactly, but I doubt whether you'll be able to just walk in here and live without a reason like a wife or a job

^ That.

Personally, I like it here, but I think I will leave at some point. Don't want to be in a country that's rising the Next Hitler personally... (I partially agree with his ideas, but he's doing it all wrong)
