Hey I just picked up a pretty decent Squier '51 off of craigslist. Its the blonde with black pickguard and i plan to mod it out quite a bit.

The only things I plan on keeping original are the paint, the black pickguard, and the bridge humbucker.

Tuners - Gotoh vintage style tuners, silver(from warmoth)
A question with these: I know that they are made for 11/32" tuner holes, and I know that the '51's holes are not that size (maybe 3/8"?). Where can i find conversion bushings that will fit the guitar and tuners without any problem?

Nut - graphtech TUSQ nut

bridge - GuitarFetish Squier '51 bridge.
Current bridge rattles like hell, and from my research, this is the only easy fix

neck pickup - up for suggestions? I was thinking a GFS lil puncher XL. I'm looking for something with a little more bite than the current pickup.

Wiring - probably keep it stock, but up for suggestions

Let me know what you think!

I would love to be able to just sand out bigger holes, but I was under the impression that the vintage style tuners need smaller holes than the ones that come stock on almost all guitars.

OK. scratch the bit about enlarging the holes since you mentioned the '51 is 12/32 or 1/32" larger than the Gotoh you're getting. The bushing should work then.

I haven't had the need to upgrade the '51's tuners. I've modded 10 or 20 of those since they closed out for $70 about 2 years ago.

Awesome, thanks for such a informative response.

and the reason i am changing out the tuners is not necessarily an upgrade, i just think the vintage style tuners will look a whole lot better on this guitar than the current ones.

Now another question for the public. Sand off the logo on the headstock to replace with a Fender noodle style one?

Its not because i dont want to be seen playing a squier, its just i think the current logo is kind of ugly...your thoughts?

I would do it if it makes you happy, but don't sell it as a Fender to someone if you do sell it.

I think it'd be cool to get someone who's good at cursive or caligraphy to write out "Fender Squier" or something along those lines on the headstock. Ya know, something classy and original.

That's a pretty sweet decal. Ive actually decided against it, might as well keep it.

Everything has been ordered and is on the way.

I didnt end up buying the GFS bridge, I am just sticking with the original one. As for the pickup, I went with the GFS pro series tele pickup, the higher output one. excited to get everything in it.
