anybody like Night Birds? a lot like early 80's punk, especially Dead Kennedys. they've got a new 7" coming out soon
#2
They have a song called Prognosis: Negative and Joey from The Ergs on bass.

They'd have to be REALLY bad for me to dislike them
FUCK YOU! GET PUMPED!

I got to listen to that 7" and a friend's house the other day and it was really good.

Love 'em. Best ex-Ergs! band by far.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
Who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
You fixed yourself, you said, "Well, never mind,
We are ugly, but we have the music."

yeah, just got it in the mail, it's ****in good. i'm going to see em on sunday w/ gov't warning, deep sleep, and secret police (website) download the secret police demo, it's good, they're gonna have a 7" out soon

I was on dorkrockcorkrod.com today, and saw they existed for the first time. I was just about to check them out, weird...

saw them live on sunday and holy shit they ****in' ripped! besides mike's guitar strings breaking twice, thus a loss of playtime, but still awesome. opened with midnight movies.

other bands at the show:

secret police- awesome, you can download their demo at the link i posted somewhere up theres

deep sleep- ok, they kinda bored me for a while, then they got a little better so i picked up their new lp

chronic sick- old dudes, kinda lame at first, but were pretty entertaining after a while (big minus for me when the singer got on stage and asked through the mic if he was going to be introduced, sounded quite dickish)

government warning- last show, (1st and last time i see them) ****ing awesome. i hadn't listened to them at all before and now i ****ing hate myself for not getting into them earlier.

edit: also some dudes were selling records on the side, got a degenerics "generica" test lp, dead milkmen "metaphysical graffiti" lp, op ivy "hectic" ep, and propagandhi's first album which i thought i'd like, but i don't

Seriously in love with this band right now, had to pass up the chance to see them on Sunday with Government Warning and I regret that quite a bit.

It's so, so good. New album is probably going to be an album of the year contender.

I didn't even know they were working on a new album, but holy balls I'm excited.

dear virginia punx, night birds is playing a free show at best friends fest and will apparently have the new album by then
#16
they're streaming the title track now on the bandcamp. apparently the album isn't coming out now until September 13th but pre orders are supposed to start sometime in august

I wish Mike Hunchback was in this band and not Screeching Weasel.

he still does Screeching Weasel? i thought he just runs that record shop in Brooklyn now.

PJ's a worthy replacement, but i'll still miss the floor sliding, face humping, seizure having, string breaking every 3 songs, days of Mike.

It was a great gig, went to CSR's anniversary show at the ottobar in Baltimore. The ravagers opened, then I went upstairs to drink, then I came downstairs to watch the night birds, such a good live band as well as on record, weren't very heavy on playing stuff off their new album too, a couple songs, but mostly stuck to fan favourites. Good energy in the pit, my girlfriend managed to hit her head on a speaker and was dazed for a bit, I asked her if she was okay, she just ran right back into the pit.. haha..

then the zero boys played, they were great too, played all the classics from Vicious circle, some new stuff too. For their set I managed to stumble in the pit, getting up i knocked my head into some guys mouth, basically the same spot my girlfriend hit her head earlier, Ended up feeling something wet running down my face, turned out his teeth and my head connected.. the bleeding stopped, and I went back in, and they played an encore doing songs off their first e.p. so great hearing "stoned to death" live!

had a chat with the night birds, and they were nice enough to give a signed copy of "born to die in suburbia" for a giveaway for my zine in London.

everyone should see this band live!

yeah, they're great dudes. Brian once let me pay him through paypal for a sold out show and put me and a friend on the guest list.
