First off I hope this is the right place to post this thread.

I want to start a band, and we have everyone, Bass, drums! But what I want to know is how big of an amp will I need for my band to perform? I don't have a lot of money being a college student and I just bought myself a small 20w Practice amp. Thanks guys, you always seem to help!

20w+ Tube or 50w+ Solid State. 1x12" Speaker.
Actually, I go by Dave, but there are already too many Daves on this forum.

Fender MIM Stratocaster
Fender Jaguar Bass
Epiphone EJ200 Super Jumbo
Fender Excelsior 13w
Fender Rumble 100 V3

5-10 watts tube or 30+ solid state should do the job. if it doesnt you guys need to turn the **** down. if you gig you should mic it.
all the best.

Let's say you "can" gig with that little practice amp, but you'll definately have to put it through a PA to be able to hear yourself against drums.

Otherwise, just start saving for something bigger like mentioned above. I personally didn't start gigging until I picked up a 120watt 1x12" solid state amp, upgrading from a 15 watt practice amp.
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.

I gig with an 18w tube amp, but it is just barely enough. And I don't play too clean.
