HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.
Primary (internal) Battery (601)
ENTER - Continue Startup

I get this error message when I start my Laptop up.
It worked fine just plugged in for a few weeks, but now it randomly shuts down. Im guessing this is down to the internal battery problem?

Your battery is ****ed and can't hold charge any more.

As IMABBALLPLAYER said, it's pretty self-explanatory.

You know that your computer can stay on, even without a battery in, if it's plugged in, right?

You guess that it's a battery problem? How much clearer does the error message have to be?
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

Since when has the Pit become a computer lobby?

Jesus - isn't there a computers thread somewhere?

OT - Yes, the error message is 100% self explanitory. Get a new battery.
Do you feel warm within your cage?

And have you figured out yet -

Storage. Capacity. Is. Very. Low.

Meaning it can't store much energy on the battery, which will lead you to not having much energy to use.

How long have you been using that particular battery ?

A good way to save on battery life is to take it off the charge at 100 % and to try to recharge only when very low power remains.

Buy another one.

Edit:

If it cuts while plugged in, it can be a couple things, like overheating or the computer just crashing. Replacing the battery should help. If areas of your computer typically get very hot and then cuts out, try installing some cooling system.

Thats for giving me an answer instead of just moaning about what thread its in.
Ive been using it about a year.

Gonna order a new battery tomorrow now.

Good tip, I always left it plugged in when the battery was at 100%.

No sweat.
For the battery thing, it applies to rechargeable ones. Go from 0 to 100 then vice-versa. They'll hold the charge longer. You'd think manufacturers would have some kind of built-in switch that stops the current from going in if the battery is still alive, but I guess they'd make a lot less money that way.

As far as charging it over and over goes to keep the battery health up, that only applies to certain types of batteries. Google the type of battery it uses and go from there.
