Next year marks Marshall's Golden (50th) Jubilee, Its almost certain that they'll be releasing an amp to mark the occasion. Do you think that it will be a reissue of the Silver Jubilee, or a reissue of another amp like the Plexi? Im hoping they wont be that boring and will actually put some thought into it. Might the Golden Jubilee be an original amp? More importantly, what are the chances it will be any good? And will it come in sexy Gold tolex?

Also Ive just noticed that theres a countdown for it at the bottom of the front page of Marshall's website

I really hope they redo the silver jubilees, those were excellent amps. I wouldn't be surprised if they just rebadged a TSL100 in gold, though.

I imagine they'll do something with a 50th anniversary JTM45 reissue and probably a plexi of some sort. They've put out an awful lot of new amps in the last year or so, I'm not sure that they'd add an entirely new production series to that lineup.

I'd be down for a Silver Jubilee reissue. I seriously doubt they make a brand new amp for it, especially considering the current economy. I doubt it would be a good business decision to design a brand new amp. I think it'll either be another Silver Jubilee or possibly a somewhat updated Plexi.
#5
SJ reissue would be cool, but I'm sure it would be ridiculously overpriced. It'd be cool if they made a new amp that wasn't meh, but I suppose that would be too much to ask.

I heard, from someone who lived close to their factory that they have been laying quite a few people off of late...

Hopefully there will be someone left to design some new and... well, good.

The Silver Jubilee's were great and I still wish I bought the used one I passed up on in the 90s.

A gold JTM45 would be an interesting amp. The world needs more JTM45's. It'll probably be something awful though.
Who was it that made amps with a solid gold chassis? Imagine a JTM45 with a gold chassis. It would need an ebony turret board too. It would be a tempting thing to steal but you'd need a forklift to take it.

You gotta laugh.

I would love the Golden Jubilee to be a Slash Jubilee with a little more preamp tube distortion and less of that diode clipping distortion (mainly so the purists would shut up). Work out a few kinks and you have one of the best amps on the planet. The Silver Jubilee was always my favorite Marshall.

I love how solid gold is $50,000. I imagine there was a Dr. Evil moment there. "Throw that number out, who knows what it'll cost us? If they're dropping that much they won't look into it."

My hope is for an affordable JTM45. A SJ reissue true to the original would be killer, though.

Yep, that was the one. An amp for people with more money than they know what to do with. It'd last forever though. In 10,000 years archaeologists will dig it up and all that will be left will be the chassis and they'll conclude it was some unknown religious artifact.

If i'm spending 50k for a chassis for an amp it damn well better be a religious artifact. The gods of music better impart all of their knowledge to me just for buying it.

Damn straight Xgamer. In reality I guess it's just a gimick. He's probably never even made one like that. Simply offering it attracts the attention of rich poseurs and then they'll spend money on a non-gold one. His cabinets are nice and catch their attention. They are obviously aimed at being more furniture for show than industrial gigging items. There is a niece market for furniture amps I'd guess. Seems like their should be if there isn't.
It's more of the Red Iron amp's market. Theirs take it further with those beautiful gnarled old timber cabinets. Who wouldn't like one of those in the lounge room if he could afford it?

I just had a poke around on the Allesandro site. Damn there's some nice timber in some of those amps. Even if you had to build your own turret board, you are paying for the cabinet.

A guitar out of that would look nice. Matching guitars and amp timber? Now that would have to qualify as the ultimate in poseuring.

Very nice as well. That first one is a remarkable piece of timber though. After looking at it for a while it started to look like Munch's The Scream. Then after a while longer I realised there was a big cat like a leopard looking out at me from the jungle. It truly is an awesome piece of timber. I'd love to see it in the flesh.
