I can't even think of something other than "Why? Why would you make this?"

no serious musician worth his MySpace page would be caught dead jamming on one because the sound is, well, small.

I would like to think no serious musician, both male and female, would ever play this, especially if the sound is small (which I interpret to be terrible)

But...the way the guitar is built, it'll be louder.

Did you read the article?
#4
it's saying other travel guitars' sound is "small," not this one.

Ive tried a carbon fiber guitar (not that one though, that just looks lame) it accaully sounded pretty good.

Cool, maybe in the future we'll get more carbon fiber guitars. Isn't carbon fiber dust dangerous to breathe in which is why they don't mass produce it?
#13
That thing is fugly imo. But we all know that somewhere, someone on this world will like/likes the thing.

For $1600 I'd rather pick up a Fender Standard Strat and ESP LTD EC1000
Have a good one,

It goes over the 10th fret, so that sucks, it's travel, which okay, but for $1600? NOOO
#16
If it sounded good and cost a lot less I might look into it. I don't really care what it looks like as long as it sounds good (and that doesn't even look too bad). Hella expensive though.
#17
Cost too much. Would not stop me from playing it though. Its unique and i like that. If the price was right id consider getting one.
#19
In my opinion that thing is actually pretty sexy looking. Why do people always slam innovation? I've never played a carbon fiber guitar but it could sound pretty nice, $1600 is crazy steep though.
#20
that one is hideous, but I'd very much like a Rainsong, I like the idea of a carbon fibre guitar because they aren't prone to warping and cracking due to temperature and humidity, and they actually sound pretty amazing

not really, carbon fibre uses the same types of resins or expoxy that fibreglass does, it's just quite expensive because of the cost of the graphite mesh

edit- sorry, should have said, not worse than fibreglass, but both are still pretty awful for your health, but almost every manufacturer everywhere would require PPE to be used

This one looks much better compared to the hideous creation in the article, I am still skeptical on the sound though.

Doesn't Ovation use carbon fiber for the backs of their guitars? You can't tell me an Ovation guitar sounds small, despite how fugly they look.

Ovations aren't completely made of carbon fiber though

Yes I can. Plugged in is a different story, but they sound weak next to most normal guitars in the same price range.

I wouldn't put it past Jack White to use one.

Well, yeah, cause they have that stupid rounded back, but miced up I doubt you could tell the difference, not preamp out, miced.

I would buy a carbon fiber guitar if it was good. (or any guitar of any material, if i felt it was good)

But, that guy is one ugly bastard.

find one in a store and play it, it will probably shock you.

Ovations are backed with fibreglass if I'm not mistaken.

They make lots of carbon-fiber instruments. I once saw a carbon-fiber cello which sounded really nice.

i have the WS1000 rainsong (far right in the pic)

it's a great sounding guitar and one that i'll never sell...it's a "lifer" guitar.

if anyone wants more detailed pics, i'd be happy to take them. and the other guitars are gone now. all i have is the rainsong and an ESP LTD

I've never heard that about carbon fibre. However they've actually shown in lab experiments that carbon nanotubes of the correct size can affect your respiratory system the same way asbestos does.

And on carbon fibre guitars: They sound awesome, as others here have said. Different, sure, but an elitist/purist reaction to innovation is unjustified unless they've played one themselves.

It doesn't even come with turbochargers or limited-slip differential....

they were optional, but I can't play that fast, so I didn't think I needed them. Do you think that was a mistake not to get them?

Built out of carbon fiber, the manufacturer, SF-based Blackbird Guitars, claims that at 3 pounds, the Rider is one of the lightest guitars in the world. Contrast that to your average Fender Stratocaster, which weighs more than twice that.

except that this is an acoustic, compared to the strat, an ELECTRIC.

OT:Rainsong guitar's sound absolutely amazing. Not quite as warm as say, a Martin or a Taylor, but even at that the difference isn't huge. If I could grow money, I'd buy one or two.
