im entering a 'battle of the bands' type show in a few weeks and me and my band are doing brown sugar. we dont have a bass, and it would cost us money that we dont currently have to borrow one. would it work doing power chords instead of a bass line? then id have lead guitar over the top and me singing (i can only sing while playing bass or dead simple guitar)

Why not ask one of the other bands for a lend of their bass guitar?

¦ Epiphone Sheraton II ¦ GFS Mean 90s ¦ Ampeg J-20 ¦
¦ Fulltone OCD ¦ MXR 6-Band EQ ¦ Behringer Chorus ¦ Artec Analog Delay ¦ EHX Holy Grail ¦

This. Really handy. Cheaper than a bass.
