So, the plastic bit on my guitar strap snapped yesterday and i'm looking for a new guitar strap.
I would like a plain black strap that is woven, as opposed to leather.
Does anyone know if i can get any, which have the adjustable bit (usually plastic) made out of metal? It would seem to make more sense as it would be much harder to break.
Thanks for any replies

Uhhhh... go to the music store and browse their strap collection? I've never thought about who made my strap and I doubt many other people have either. Good luck though.

What kind of music do you play?

Glam metal. Motley, Halen, GNR etc
Does anyone know if i can get one with a metal adjustable thing, instead of plastic?

My Levi's does not have such a thing at all, just some leather system or something.

Or just take a look here: http://www.levysleathers.com/browse;cat,805;Levy-Metal

The good straps shouldn't even need an adjusting thing like a seatbelt has.
Go with leather, it is very comfy.
Or,
Sheepskin backing with leather front. Would be comfy.

Remember when choosing your straps, something that it commonly overlooked:
Put the strap on, fit it to your likings and see if it grabs hold of your shirt when you move the guitar. This is incredibly annoying especially when you're on stage. Looks goofy too having your shirt in an odd position due to the strap.

I'm not a big fan of leather straps.

Have you ever used one?

Are you a vegetarian by any chance?

I don't know brands so much but a good strap is important.

The Fender supplied strap I have rubs against my shoulder and is a pain in the ass and the other Levi ones I use are uncomfortable as the plastic bit is right on my shoulder/is not particularly comfortable.

I do like the look of the Gretsch Leather Spaghetti strap though.

dimarzio clipclocks are kindda cool.
You take the strap screw of your guitar then screw the cliplock in.
What you are left with is that you use your strap buttons as straplocks.
And it's actually better than strap locks.
Because its nailed in the guitar.

My favourite strap is a 3" two ply leather one made in Australia. The top ply is plain leather and the bottom layer is suede. I bought it to use on an Ibanez Artist double neck that weighed a ton. I now use it on a normal guitar. I have a dodgey shoulder from a motorcycle accident and it's just so comfortable, spreads the load over a wide area.

sucks if you have long hair though, always gets tangled in the mahogany pieces.

edit: the above is kinda a joke, got one as a gift and it's pretty cumbersome and costs way too much.

A little pricey, but worth it. Handmade, retro and truly unique.

I have 2 of them myself.

Aren't all straps hand made?
Remember, the Chinese are still people even though they do make products for us.
Those aren't even that expensive by the way. A good Levy's costs around that. But Levy's are Genuine Leather.

TS, Planet Waves makes some good straps.
I got two of the Joe Satriani straps, which came with the Premium Tickets on his Wormhole Wizards tour.

These are genuine leather/suede as well. Impressive designs and materials, and the steel buckle make them look so...pro!

But Levy's will work as well.
