BURBANK, CALIF.—The Buena Vista branch of the Burbank Public Library will play host to some of entertainment’s most enduring personas at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, courtesy of the 2011 “Seasons Spotlight: Movers and Shakers, Stars and Starmakers!” gala. The event’s special guests number actor Dorian Harewood, entertainment journalism guru and Hollywood Reporter Senior Editor Alex Ben Block, Spiderman stunt double Fred Waugh, Troop Beverly Hills producer Ava Ostern Fries, and Rick Dees, the most-heard voice on radio. Seasons Spotlight will be hosted by pop culture personality and Seasons writer Sam Botta, and set to feature a film retrospective and discussion with Chuck Fries, one of film’s most successful and renowned producers.
Fries’ dialogue will center on his recently published book, “Chuck Fries—Godfather of the Television Movie: History of Television”, as well as some of his more notable achievements in entertainment. With one of the most impressive and lengthy résumés in the industry, Fries’ appearance promises a wealth of accumulated wisdom and educationally amusing anecdotes.
Also slated for recognition is Dees Entertainment’s recent programming partnership with Westwood One, Inc., a deal that will deliver a brand-new slate of Rick Dees shows to Westwood’s schedule, including The Daily Dees, Rick Dees 80s at 8, Rick Dees 90s at 9, the Teen Top 20 with Kevin Dees and Weekly Top 40 archives. Cumulus Media stations were among the first to sign on for the new Dees programming, lending Dees’ already considerable brand even more clout.
Additionally, Alex Ben Block will be on hand to discuss his recent tome, “George Lucas's Blockbusting: A Decade-by-Decade Survey of Timeless Movies Including Untold Secrets of Their Financial and Cultural Success”. Crafted in conjunction with Lucy Autrey Wilson, the book analyzes the creative and financial processes that produced the most successful films of our times.
Seasons Spotlight’s stellar program will be managed by an equally stellar master of ceremonies in Sam Botta, a red-carpet host and media personality known for his interviews with a wide range of celebrities, from character actor David Carradine and award winning actor Gary Busey.
The Seasons Spotlight is sponsored by the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills favorite Seasons publication. Events are scheduled to begin at 7 in the evening, at the Buena Vista Branch Library, 300 N. Buena Vista St., Burbank, CA 91505. For more information, call 818.238.5620.
