First post I hope it is in the right thread:

Hey, I'm new to electric I don't really use a pick at all and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on picking individual strings at a quick and natural pace. Is it just something you get used to? Are there any exercises to speed up the process of learning this, or just pure practice? Just wondering...

It's not an exercise, but try learning Wipeout by the Surfaris. It's easy on the fretting hand so you can focus on picking. Start slow and build up speed. Picking is in the wrist, strumming is in the arm. Also, Wipeout will help you build up picking speed once you've got it down.
Actually, I go by Dave, but there are already too many Daves on this forum.
