I have a Lexicon Lambda I've been using and I'm looking for an upgrade both on number of inputs/outputs and sound quality. I have been looking at the Presonus firestudio but i'm not completely sold on it yet. I have a 500 dollar spending limit. Any suggestions guys? I'm going through a MacBook Pro with Logic Express btw.

The Presonus Firestudios are pretty good.
The Focusrite Saffire 40 is one to consider as well. I believe it has exactly 8 inputs.

Coolio, have you heard of any tech issues with the Firestudios?

The drivers aren't the best apparently.

The Focusrite and M-Audio drivers are much more stable.

Its more about what firewire card you have vs the drivers. Its more that it needs to be using a specific firewire chipset to run it properly (I forget the exact one, its probably on Presonus' site)

Anyways, the Firestudio is solid. I'd also look into the M-Audio Profire 2626 which you can pick up from $400-$500 used on Ebay.
