I'm playing my first gig ever with the band I'm in. We all have amps that are about 15-watts.....is that enough for a show that has about 200 people coming???? I'm getting worried....

Is there a PA?
The UG Awards exist only to instill me with existential doubt.

For me, the 60's ended that day in 1978...

Willies. Fuck the lick and fuck you too.

Tube amps?

15 watts goes a long way in tubes. Any gigs that need more power will likely have a P.A. system you can use to mic your amp.

If it's solid-state, you're screwed

inb4 what you really need is a new amp

Is it tube or solid state? If it's tube you should be fine, but if it's solid state then it won't be good enough.
I'm rgrockr and I do not approve of this message.

You're boned with a 15 watt solid state :p

Oh good, I was worried that you had a fire amp.

It will be loud enough if you can mic it through the PA. However, they're unlikely to have the best sound, and you should really look at investing in some better amps.

WEll it's our first gig......EVER....so i guess we should suck....but soon I wanna get something better.......I got the amp i'm using now for twenty dollars....since it was in my price range.....I'm sure that my Spider IV 15-watt will be "Okay" for this show.....hopefully.......

you got a spider 4 for $20? Is that a deal or not?

You should take out some loans and get a splawn though, even if it means forever being in debt

If there's decent pa and monitoring, you can get away with pretty much anything.

They wouldn't say that here because it would actually be relevant.

What does it matter? Both the Spider and the MG KICK SERIOUS ASS!

Talk to the oher bands playing and ask to borrow an amp. If you can't do that then it should be okish through a PA.

#23
Stick a mic in front of your spider. If you can't hear it properly yourself just get a bit of it put through the monitors as well as FOH (front of house). The amp has one job to do, sound good. Let the PA look after how loud it is - that's it's job.
You'll get away with it. If you're smart you'll get a decent mike and cable from somewhere yourself. You should own one if you want to gig. Stick it in front of the amp and hand the sound guy the other end of the cable, "here's my guitar". He'll love you for it.

Spiders can do anything. Even without a PA, as long as you leave it on the Insane setting. Bump your mids. Use your guitar volume.....and your fingers. Tone is in the fingers.

All the way from GG&A to say that?

I've done this before and it sounded fine, don't chirp.

TS, get a patch cord and plug it into the line out of the spider and into the input on the mixing board. You'll be fine.
