i wouldn't bother with the peavey. the price says it's not handmade (even used, a handmade guitar would cost upwards of $800) and peavey has never made a handmade acoustic guitar. it is probably a below beginner level guitar.

as far as that old fender, fenders of that age didn't sound too good, and a guitar that age is going to need some tlc, might even need expensive repairs like a neck reset. since it's been gutted, it wouldn't be a collectible.

The consensus on questions like your seems to be that you will outgrow a cheaper guitar and soon find it is not sufficient for your purposes. Yamaha makes many good affordable guitars. The Yamaha FG700 might be a good choice. Also look at a used Seagull S6 or Entourage model.

they don't tell you the model, so who knows. if you have to go cheap and used, i'd try and stick with a newer used yamaha at the lower end or maybe a recent jasmine by takamine, takamine, crafter, tanglewood or an alverez.

a lot of sellers don't actually know much about guitars and don't maintain them well. that problem is worse with older guitars because the owners have no idea that they need neck resets, which can run over £500, and without a neck reset, those guitars are very hard to play and only get harder. guitars can have other issues that an inexperienced player wouldn't notice - either buyer or seller. you can minimize the risk by buying newer guitars.

Actually, I'm fairly certain that linking to eBay is, at least, a warnable offense on these boards. You'd be much better off browsing other sites to find the model of guitar that you want, then searching for the best deal on eBay for that particular model.

You haven't really indicated to us what sort of sound you're looking for. Do you want something typically dark, bright, clear, mellow? Do you want the typical booming sound of a dreadnought model or would you prefer the lower volume and extraordinary clarity of a 00 or 000 model? What about the fretboard? Do you have small hands or big hands? What scale length are you comfortable with?

You're not giving us much to go on. Come back when you know what you want.
Sincerely, Chad.

It's only a problem if he is selling the item that he links to...otherwise, it's no problem.

I will say though that I would be leary of buying a cheap acoustic on the bay. That's just me though.
