I have acquired a Peavey Predator, mid 90s... it is in pretty rough shape, bridge position doesn't work, the mid/bridge position is shotty, if i turn the tone down on the neck you cant hear it anymore... it needs some work.

This guitar is basically a strat clone in case you weren't familiar... so 3 single coils, no interest in a humbucker.

I want to get a Gilmour type sound out of it or as close as i can get. I dont want to get active pickups.

I was thinking LACE sensors or something but maybe a suggestion on which model in which position... or perhaps a dimarzio recommendation.

Also I am assuming I am going to need a new pot...or 3. Ideas on that... 250k? If i were to get a hot rail single coil would i need a 500k pot?

Any help would be appreciated... thank you!

The closest you can get to gilmours sound is to copy the specs on his black strat. This is:

Neck: Custom Shop Fat ‘50s
Middle: Custom Shop ‘69
Bridge: Seymour DuncanTM SSL-5

Here's the wiring diagram: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=3s_1v_2t_5w

You'll need 250k pots.

For future pickup questions, ask in the pickups thread stickied at the top of the page.
Thank you for your reply, I will keep that in mind, I did a little searching and found those pick ups in 3 packs but no singles. The fenders that is.
In that case you can use the Custom Shop '69s for all three. If you don't want to shell out the cash for the custom shop pups you can get close with the "original '57/'62 Strat" set.
