Ok, im putting in my new pup's in a few weeks when they arrive and I want to get the most out of my tone. I have used the same strings my whole guitar career and would like to get something more suited towards my playing style. I play melodeath and tech metal for the most part in D standard. Currently use EBsuper slinky 0.9'. What would go better for some brutal metal tone. (Not sure how much pup's effect the strings or vice versa, so i have a painkiller and warpig)

PUPs will help you significantly. If I were you I would just move up to 10s. I don't know how you can use 9s tuning to D standard, I used to tune to Eb and 9s were too floppy for me.

I personally use DR Hi beam 10-46`s in E standard, they give the best metal tone of all the strings i`ve tried & i`ve tried quite a few, tho not all!

So I just ordered 4 packs of DM Helix's to give them a go.
Just curious if anyone has used these and know how they are?
