I'm sure this question has been asked 1008230823523 times, but where do you all write all of your material?

For me it's just some notebook I take to school with me everyday.

Computer mostly, or on my phone when I'm out somewhere.

I don't actually take a notebook with me everywhere I go. I find the notepad on my mobile phone works as a great substitute, as I'm really bad at writing and often can't read what I've just written. It's not very conveniant, either.

Not to mention that the phone can store lots of different phrases, sentences or ideas, that can then be imported onto the computer to be hashed together in some way. I'd much rather write in the sunshine on a proper notepad, but I never seem to have the urges to do that.

It's usually my computer, like AngryGoldfish said, but, I do sometimes use a piece of paper, but if it gets too sloppy I get angry with the aesthetics of it and toss it, even if it's good material.

I'm going to a drug rehab next week, so I'll bring a notebook to write, I'll hopefully get some good stuff out of it.
Poop.

Yes, poop.

I prefer notebooks, generally (and my favorite spot is the back corner of the library around the the way. I like being reminded of all the possible ideas that are there, especially now that I'm trying to make writing a habit instead of emotional). Computers are nice, but bulky.

I've always written poetry in notebooks and stories on the comp. Poetry is a somewhat slower thinking process than storytelling, so I don't have to rush to get the ideas down, whereas storytelling is a lot quicker than I can write and I lose sentences faster.

My phone is my only source of technology these days so I write in notepads, which accounts for why I rarely post anymore, which is fine, because i'd rather post seldomly and put thought into it then do OTSs just to be prolific. I'll gladly be the Terrence Mallick to some folks Spielbergs.
Poor advice.

phone when I'm out, 'notes' function on windows 7 when its just a stanza or two/an unfinished idea, scraps of paper when there's no time, my typewriter when its a special job, and good 'ol microsoft word when its legit.

New thread for a new year! yaaaaaaay.

I used to write in a little notebook and some stuff on the computer. Notebook on trips and the computer at home. I always keep a little scrapbook for stupid shit I come up with to amuse myself.

I tatto my verses onto the corpses of sluts that come into my tattoo parlor at 3 in the morning looking for another bad idea. I guess I'm just hardcore

I either write meh stuff on my laptop or as a note on my iPod, depending on where I'm at when I get inspiration. I used to write in notebooks, but then I discovered that I type faster than I write. I'm not too sure I should be trying to write it down faster, though...

Most of my songwriting is done at school, so it's usually on paper, but I copy it onto my computer.

I think it's my destiny to be strung out at a computer screen. Clinging desperate to the conception of literary martrydom. Wishing so bad that the words that I scribble were fiction, because that would mean I were creative. That would mean it's all been nothing but some crazy dream I had while drifting off as a child.

But, it's not. And more than likely I'll wake up soon with empty pockets full of regret.

^ Dude, that's, like, poetic or some shit. You should, like, totally write like poems and songs and shit. You'd get so much pussy bro.

I had rather hoped it might. Then I could get some validation on the internet and potentially form a better opinion of myself.

Thanks for the psychoanalysis

Yes, comments on an internet forum do reflect upon the writer, but it's often difficult to tell in what way they do. Everyone appreciates a laugh, and I'm not denying that provoking laughter is enjoyable, but I fail to see in what way you can accurately say that this reflects in that way upon me.

yes ! salut tout le monde !

i'm the sexy allen mentioned in the OP.

this already feels really different.

as for where i write: i keep this notebook with me most of the time, i write and draw in it, though sometimes i'm too lazy to actually go back and read what i've written, my handwriting sucks, but it's there anyway. i'd say lately i've been writing more on the computer, i've no problem with it.

i want to get a typewriter some day.

EDIT: damn! i missed the first page by seconds :[

Use your mod powers to replace everyone's comments with your own.

Like I said, mate, if you want to change anything in the OP, please do so.

Hey Bleed, look into Open Office. Its just like Microsoft's suite, but free.

I typically write whatevers on my mind on whatevers at hand; a message pad, stick in the sand... I might not remember it, but at least it stops bouncing around my head.
+1

I never noticed any major limitations with Open Office. It pretty much does everything that I want a typing program to do, and then some. Not to mention that it's free and never breaks down.

Or, y'know, you could download Microsoft Office.... Not that I would EVER advocate the illegal obtainment of such downloadable content....

I know, I'm just being silly, really. This is the first day I've felt okay in the last two weeks. I feel like I should celebrate a little.

By being an asshole?! A flagrant use of your moderating powers!

what's been going on? Physical illness or depressing mood swing type crap?

Both, actually. I've not felt well physically and emotionally.

By the way, I've written something in the feedback thread I'd like everyone to review. We can talk about here if people prefer.

edit: lets keep it in the feedback thread actually.

I don't really care enough to explain something I said while strung out on molly. Nor do I care to click that link. But, I'm sure it's really entertaining and thought provoking considering it's source.

I've lost so many notebooks in rehabs.

I'd like to keep this thread well away from any annoying bickering, whether you think it's justified banter or not.

Pens and Paper. All the way.
Typing is way too fast. Handwriting forces me to think more about every single word.
I get more done when typing, but find it takes me multiple drafts to get something that i would have gotten in one if I took the time to hand write it.

Personally I like moleskines, I can't type worth a shit, I don't have a sense of humor, and I don't know why I'm here, I should probably pick up a second or third job. Someone needs to enlighten me to some new writers. Anyone? I like Mellville, McCarthy and McMurtry, I don't read anyone who's last name doesn't start with an M.
