Thanks.

...Stratocaster? Telecaster? Deluxe Reverb(though I don't think they have a custom shop)? I've played the Strat and it's pretty nifty. Over priced though.

Its the stratocaster?

overpriced?

Yeah, I mean, I played it and I was like "okay, this is a sweet guitar." And it was truly very, very nice. But 3 grand? I'd buy a handmade or a custom or another PRS for that price. You can get a fantastic strat for half of that and put the CS pickups in yourself.

I may be a cynic though. I've never been a fan of Fender's custom shop.

Oh really? We must be talking about different guitars. It was $3,000USD at (yuck) guitar center.

well the price will always be crap at GC. but yes the custom shop is always overpriced. you should just get the body and color style minus the pups and install the pickups yourself

So you ONLY like Fender necks? I call bullshit. You're a brand fanboy, which is fine, but just admit it. There are many necks out there that are just like or similar to Fenders.

It's just kind of silly to bother with it when for the same money or less you can order a one-off guitar to be made just for you by the Fender Custom Shop. Same quality, everything personalised, unique to you and will cost either a little bit less or just the same as.

As for brand loyality, there are just as many if not more dickheads who go on big anti-Fender tirades and disregard Fender as there are Fender loyalists who will stick with them. Same with Gibson, PRS, ESP, Ibanez, everyone. For every person that has a favourite brand there is another person who has an unjustifiable hatred of that brand.

If someone wants a good Strat then they are not in the wrong for wanting it to be a Fender. You are not better or worse than someone because you do or do not like a famous brand or because you can or can not name many obscure alternative brands.

I owned a Fender American Standard Stratocaster and had custom shop pickups installed. It lacked the sweetness of a Custom Shop. Details does make a difference.

They do have a model at $2000.00 I believe. Any way, I selled it and bought a PRS.

It's not all about the pickups. I've found out the hard way.
