I am looking for bands that are lo-fi and have very short songs. I like Guided by voices better since Wire is more hardcore punk and they sound like gang of four. I would be more interested in a band like Guided by voices which are more pop oriented.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

Definitely this, like really fuzzy 60s noise-pop. Lovely

Cloud Nothings are pretty good too, nice fast, catchy songs.

Let's Wrestle are kinda similar to CN, but a bit quirkier and, to me at least, better

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone is great and completely lo-fi (his first album was recorded on his answering machine) but it's electronica rather than indie-rock like GBV. Still sweet though
