I don't know if you guys do that, but back in the petrucci forums, we used to do Monthly Jams, where we make several groups of guitarists, and each guitarist records like a part on a jam track, then sends it to another guitarist so that he records his take.

Why don't we do that here ?

Would be fun, would be like an online jam

People, keep checking this topic for update !

cday, hmm we just take a jam track. Suppose it's 4 minutes, and suppose me and you are on the same team, I record for example 30 - 40 secs, save it, then send you the mp3 file. You then record your take, and send it to the next guitarist.

We will have to form groups once we have the required number of players

But then the groups should be random, to make it fair.

And we could have jam tracks of about 3 to 4 minutes. That way we make teams of about 6 people, and each person gets roughly 30 seconds.

Also, different genres as well.
For starters we could do blues, rock and maybe jazz as well.

Yes sure , that's a detail! Important thing now is to get volunteers :P

I'm in if we're making the 'jam track' and mixing the leads on top properly.

sounds good. wouldn't take much work. doesn't have anything to be spectacular.

would just be nice since we'd probably have a lot of different guitar tones so it'd be good to have them all mixed together so it'd be a smooth listen

and we could put together some jam tracks with no problem.

if you want any help with the backing music then I can. I can record just about any instrument you can think of effectively. so yeah. whatever you want

Yes great would be lovely ! But like i said at the moment, we don t have enough volunteers.

We can post a demonstration perhaps for the rest ?
#16
Will edit the first post with participant list!

at least 5 more are needed to form 2 groups

Well, can't we do just one group for now? And once it's completed, we show it to the rest of UG to lure more people.

You're right, let's do this.

We need a backing track, any volunteer ?
#19
I be up for it

Might be able to do a few backing tracks too, but a bit too busy for them right now and probably for a few weeks.
Hey, look. Sigs are back.

what do you want for it? any specific chord progressions? what style? what kind of instruments to be in it? what sort of structure - as in a steady groove that stays the same or different parts throughout.
#23
I personally would play on anything. Maybe the others want something specific ?

Perhaps we could start with something easy like blues
#24
i'm into metal/rock, would like to experiment with jazz. blues is cool too.

but anything that isn't overtly happy-sounding would be great.

I'll throw together a handful of different and simple jam-worthy tracks sometime.
If people like any then we can use them.

I can't do it now though because my studio computer is dead.

I might not be able to do anything with this thread for a bit until it's fixed

Guys, sticky the topic so that you come back every once and a while to check updates
#32
I'll join in if there's still spots! I'm also down for mixing the submissions and what not.
