So, I'm looking for a nice cabinet with preferably Celestion Vintage 30's and Celestion G12K-100's in an X pattern, but if that's to specific, just a Vintage 30-loaded cab would suffice. I would like to sped as little money as possible, but I'm still in the "saving up" stage of getting a new amp.

I was looking at this one:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Marshall-Dave-Mustaine-1960DM-280W-4x12-Guitar-Speaker-Cabinet-620219-i1447540.gc

and I like the look of that one since the metal grille would match the amp I'm getting.

I also glanced over this:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Orange-Amplifiers-PPC-Series-PPC412-A-240W-4x12-Guitar-Speaker-Cabinet-424072-i1568689.gc

and I'm not in to the obnoxious color scheme. I would prefer Black tolex with a Black grille or even a silver grille, but it's not THAT big of a deal.

I tend to like angle-front cabinets over straight-front ones, but again, I'm buying this with sound as the number one priority, then price, then looks.

Also, If anyone has any suggestions for a 2x12 or 1x12 with the speaker(s) I requested, that would also be helpful, as I don't really think my roommates or neighbors in my dorm building are going to appreciate a half stack in the same way I do...

Thanks for any help you can give

EDIT: As the title says, I plan on going used, but I won't be buying this until summer, so I'll wait until then to look for specific deals.

Holy crap expensive cabs are expensive.

You don't anything like that do you?

What amp do you have and what kind of music do you play? Do you have a budget?

Personally, depending on what you play, you can get just as nice of a cab from Splawn or Avatar and they can custom make it for you in whatever color, speakers, etc. Those are just to name two. Mills, Mesa, Vadar, Port City, White Box, etc make good cabs too.

keep you eye on craigslist.

a 212 should be more than enough for ya'

unless you play outdoor shows and run a 120w tube amp head and need to crank the amp really loud

I'll definitely check out Splawn and Avatar. I've heard about their cabs, but I didn't know you could have them custom make one. How much is that likely to cost me?

As for budget, it'll just be whatever I need to spend. IMO, you can't go wrong with buying a quality cab, even if you have to buy a budget amp, because the cab will last through multiple amp heads if you decide to change those.

I'm going to be buying either a JCA100HDM or if I decide I really want to spend some money, I might go with the Egnater Armageddon when it comes out, but probably the Jet City.

So, you've spent some time on the OU campus then?

Also, if I get a 2x12 (extremely likely) would it still be a good idea to get one of each speaker? It'll probably spend most of it's time on it's side (with one speaker on top of the other) whether I'm gigging or practicing. Also, is that unhealthy for the cab?

It is not unhealthy at all - it is recommended.

yes you can buy different speakers. I had an Avatar closed back Traditional cab with a G12H30 and a CL80. Avatar also offeres a pre-broken in Celestion speaker called the Hellatone. They are cheaper too. They are comparable to Marshall cabs I suppose. Maybe a bit better. Splawn, Orange, Mesa etc will be of higher quality.

Prices for Avatar and Splawn should be on those web sites. I love my 212 Splawn cab. $575 I think. Hold on I'll get you a pic of what I had them make for me
