Hi,

I have recently listened to Green Day's Nimrod album again, and to this day I am still blown away by Billie Joe's guitar sound on that album.

This song especially is very guitar heavy.

I understand that it has a lot to do with amp setup, style of play and the talent of the mixer, but what are some tips to getting a more stronger guitar sound like in that song?

Thanks.

all happens in the recording studio when they mix guitar track after guitar track of the same thing to give the recording a lot of depth.

Typical punk setup:

JCM800 stack
SM57 for the mic
Loads of compressors & shit

Also, there are parts where the guitars are double tracked and parts where they aren't (listen to the first like 12 seconds, you can tell when its double tracked and when its not)
