...or do all of the world's greatest bands come from Britain:
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen and so forth.
So tell me some good non-british bands to even out the equation

For verification, here are some "best bands ever" lists

AC/DC, come on man.

EDIT:

The Eagles
Boston
Guns and Roses
Aerosmith
Cars
Grand Funk Railroad
Jimi Hendrix
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Petra
Quiet Riot
Styx
ZZ Top

The list goes on, you picked all the crappy famous bands, that I think are the equivalent to Justin Bebiers fame.

I don't think you understand his point, it's still subjective....besides IMO most of the bands listed here (with the inclusion of the doors) are/were as good if not better than most of the bands you listed

So if discussion about what you consider good music is pointless, then why do we have any of the Bands and Artists forums on this site?

Lists like the ones you posted are generally worthless.

I don't think their is a "best band ever" but if I had to pick it would be The Beatles. They had the most success, they were pretty much the first to do everything, and behind their music is some funny and quick witted humor. Their wit, smartasses, and charming humor made them special to me. They are not my favorite band though, Tom Petty & Heartbreakers are but I still say that The Beatles were better.

I'll give you an e-cookie if you can name a solo album by the guy that played the acoustic rhythm on that song.
