I recently bought my first tube amp. It's a peavey 6505+. I had a few questions about it. I looked at the back of the amp and it looks like theres only four tubes lit up. Is this normal for this amp?

yes

I mean, what were you expecting to see?

i am assuming preamp tubes 311...

they are hidden under the aluminum canisters, and you should have plenty (read: way too many) of them. lol.

I was just wondering. Like I said this is my first tube amp (bought from guitar center) and I wasn't sure if something happened and they blew a couple tubes and they never fixed it.

I know they are hidden Derek

I was asking a leading question because there should only be 4 power tubes visible so I don't get the 'blew a few tubes' comment.

TS - you were expecting to see 4 power plus 5 preamp = 9 tubes total is that is?
