My favourite painting might be Number 11 by Jackson Pollock just because I love all the colours splashed, drizzled, and thrown on the canvas. Another one might be the Mona Lisa as it looks 3D and life-like, I like the expression of the mouth and the eyebrows too.

What's yours?

Wow, you're so mainstream. I like the works of Danish artist Söme Trolle. Don't bother looking him up, he's too underground

My favorite painting is actually a wood carving. The Four Horsemen by Albrecht Durer. I also like his knight, death, and the devil carving a lot as well though.
What?! There's a clean channel on my amp?!

I don't understand the interest in paintings and what warrants a good or bad one so I don't have one.

Just a note: If I get banned for this I would like to know who is the guy that don´t like art and culture. Because this IS.

I have a genuine love/hate going on with Dali, and I love a lot of abstract and pretentious art, but in the end, I'm just a sucker for Monet.

I like all of Goya's black paintings though

Anything from the Renaissance. The high point of art, as it was all down hill from there pretty much. Deskilling ftl.

EDIT: I really like Dali though.

Can't link to it, but it's a very nice painting by Ilya Repin inspired by a story partially played out underwater.

edit: There's always John Bauer:

Just kidding.

Probably something by Lowry, I'm certainly not an art connoisseur.

I'm a huge fan of Edward Hopper and Caspar David Friedrich.

Have both of them as a poster up on my wall.

Seeing it aged 5 or so in real life has left a huge impression on me.

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.

Broadway Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrain:

Pretentious de stijl art ftw.

Also this:

I'm not sure who did it, or what it's called, but I think it's fucking cool as hell.

Surrealist art is also really cool. I can't think of anything offhand right now, but I love the stuff.

Although I'd say my favorite art generally comes from the Impressionist and Post Impressionist eras, my favorite painting is probably The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli.

I also like surrealist art and cubism.

after seeing the Disney animated short that he helped make, I have to say that Salvador Dalí is my favorite painter of all time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7ekBkF2OXI

Not strictly a painting, but more like what would go on inside a painting of Dalí's if you were to dive into it, so it kindof counts.
They were showing that on a loop at the Dali museum in St. Pete when I was there.

This is impressive to see in real life.

Also, for those who don't know, take a few steps away from your computer and look at this again.

Wow, that took me a while to see. Dalí kicks so much ass it boggles the mind.

Oh, and I forgot to mention my other favorite artist, which is basically the yin to Dalí's yang:
