So I've got a friend with a Vox Valvetronix 212. It just won't work. He wanted to see if I could do anything with it before he took it to a tech. I don't really have any details on it at the moment. But are these amps even fixable? If so, what can I do? I was thinking since it's a hybrid, change the tube that's in there. Beyond that, I don't know if there's much else I am capable of doing.

Anyone got some ideas? Or is it just ****ed?

it's very well likely just ****ed if an actual component is busted.

however a problem could be linked to an input jack, output jack, pots, solder joint or what not in which case that's fixable.
Prs se Holcomb is the answer
If it isn't fixable why would you take it to a tech? It's fixable, just a matter of how hard it is to diagnose the problem and fix it.
Like Min said, it could be something simple like a bad joint on a jack or switch.

If a board component is gone, though, it'll cost more than the amp is worth to diagnose/fix it.
