I've been working in "Csus4" tuning for quite a while now, and I recently switched to an 8-string guitar. We decided to tune to CGCGCGCF, but the G and the C are so low, I'm not sure which gauge to use. I currently have a .105 on the low C, and a .065 on the low G (Yeah, the .065 is stupid.) Any ideas? I've been thinking a 0.110/0.115 on the low C and a .080/0.085 on the low G

It depends on what your scale length is. Here's a tension calculator: http://www.bangzero.org/stringtension/

This is what I'd use on a 27" scale:
F .008" PL == 13.06#
C .011" PL == 13.86#
G, .015" Pl == 14.46#
C, .024" nw == 14.03#
G,, .034" nw == 15.66#
C,, .052" nw == 15.55#
G,,, .070" nw == 16.2#
C,,, .110" nw == 15.62#

In pounds of tension.
