my personal favorite has got to be the 'remorse is for the dead' by lamb of god breakdown.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpER3Z6v7T8

skip to 3:23. they basically shift the riff by one quarter beat in the breakdown. no double bass on the drums, but it sounds ****ing sweet without it.

post your faves here please (:

Bleed from within used to do a song called We are gathered here today. Since I'm from Glasgow, I remember how ****ing insane it was the breakdown at the start when they used to play

call me dumb, but is he really only playing his toms during that part? sounds like he's playing bass and toms simultaniously

I thought this thread would be about how much core sucks and how breakdowns suck too.

I was wrong.

As far as breakdowns go, the best are probably in Tech. Death and Brutal Death. They're overused and unoriginal in Deathcore.

Don't worry about the timing, you can just pass it off as djent

Boneyards by Parkway Drive. @ 2.50. Intense.

Also, Davidian by Machine Head @ 3.40. Seen them 3 times now, and they always play that song last.
Shit really gets fucked up.

EDIT: Shit...how could I forget this one. If we're going Lamb of God, we're going Black Label from 3.00...just epic.

+1

Otherwise I really don't like breakdowns. They tend to be boring as shit.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Britney Spears has had some pretty good breakdowns.

like, i love each and every song you mentioned there, but apart from "suffocating sight" and "eyeless", i wouldnt call those breakdowns, to be honest. more like bridge parts or a completely new section in "one"

Not a fan of breakdowns really.

'Turn Soonest To The Sea' by Protest is the only one I never skip.

EDIT: ^^^ 'Angel Of Death' actually does have an awesome breakdown.

2:46 After the Burial-Berserker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWEA8XFtDK4

Not big on the start of the song, but I ****ing love the groove after this.

The end of Tractor Pull by Within the Ruins is pretty good as well.

At least they're a bit more interesting that your bog standard deathcore.

Edit: ^When I first heard that song (Meshuggah) it blew my mind.

Start at 2:13.

Edit: Noticed a few Meshuggah posts. Am I the only person that can't stand them? In most of their music they try way too hard to play odd timed/odd feel-y and to me it just sounds awful. To each his own?
