I am thinking about building a lap steel strictly for country C6 tuning. Does any one know of some good sites that have all the information to build one? The only site I found was this one, http://www.buildyourguitar.com I believe I could handle the project one style guitar...even though I would like to make a lap steel more like this http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=195078
8 string with cooler looking body. I have most of the tools needed to do it...but I would need a build plan.

Also it has been said that Junior Brown uses Sho-Bud pickups in his guit-steel however I cannot find any website that sells sho-bud pickups.

Lastly, what kind of wood is recommended for a good country tone? Would pecan wood work? I have several old pecan trees on our land and it would be cool to use that wood.

All comments and help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

I found some dimensions for a 8 string lap steel. http://www.mimf.com/library/lapsteel.jpg

Are these measurements in inches? how do you measure out something that precise?
Ex: 1.0463

Also the string spacing is not specified nor is the rest of the tuners. any help?

I need a set of 8 tuners 4L/4R, for a slotted headstock. I wanted to get the Grover 18:1 Sta-tite but Stewmac.com only sells them in sets of 6, which means I would have to buy an extra set with 4 left over.

Is there any difference in these pickups from Vintage Vibe Guitars?

And These Seymour Duncans Antq.

Perhaps these would work?

http://www.amazon.com/Grover-210C-G...s/dp/B003AJP6OI

These would be about $15-20 cheaper because at amazon I would get free shipping. Is it worth saving that much or should I buy 2 sets of the 18:1?
