Any suggestions other other than the really famous stuff like the Godfather?
I saw Eastern Promises, which is about the Russian Mafia, not too long ago and really enjoyed that.

Scarface.

Not Mafia but it's awesome. Then again you're in Florida so I highly doubt you haven't seen it.

I think everyone's seen it regardless of whether they're from Florida or not.

Mafia! It's a comedy movie that seems to have been forgotten.

You may also be interested in Reservoir Dogs, not a comedy.

Next hendrix is like a a sidesplitting triumph of slapstick and scatology, a runaway moneymaker and budding franchise, the worst thing to happen to Kazakhstan since the Mongol hordes, and, a communist.

The Departed.

Season 2 of the wire deals with some pretty big criminals and is more realistic than most.

In fact just watch The Wire if you like crime dramas.

Yeah that movie was hilarious. Probably Jay Mohr's best movie.

You've probably read at least 10 people say the Departed by now. That's for a reason. Watch it.

I have. And agreed, it's really good.

I'll probably watch American Gangster, it looks good from what I've seen on youtube.

On The Waterfront.

It's not quite the same vein at all with these films, but it's a masterpiece.

These ones haven't been mentioned:

Mean Streets
True Romance
Heat
Du rififi chez les hommes
L.A Confidential
Carlito's way
À bout de soufflé
Eastern Promises
Public Enemies

EDIT: Everyone has just said the same films Most including De Niro, Scorcese or Al Pacino.

I will reiterate: Du rififi chez les hommes. A really good French film about a bank heist. Highly recommended.
