My band has started recording with a family friend who built a studio in his home. We are doing basic tracks at his studio that just consists of acoustic guitar, vocals, and drums. I've been wanting to have a way to get decent recordings at home for a number of reasons. I want to be able to record song ideas and riffs. Plus I'd like to be able to do some mixing and overdubbing like putting on bass and solo tracks. I don't need the best setup but good enough so that it doesn't ruin what we have done at the studio.

The guy I'm recording with uses a version of Cubase. I found one package that (the second link) includes Cubase thinking that it if it works it would be useful to be able to open up our recording with individual tracks and be able to also edit too. Is that possible?

Are any of these bundles any good? I plan on later on upgrading to something a lot better but I need something now. Any suggestions would help.

Ok, but would I be able to have the basic track recording in individual tracks if I upload it on another computer if both comps have Cubase? (Could I edit?)

Are you looking for whether, say, if you got Cubase AI, whether you could open your friend's project file done in Cubase 5 (full)?

Maybe this?
