So, looks like it's gonna happen. The federal government will be shutting down tomorrow due to their expired budget.

Source.

Looks like I'll have to postpone mailing the federal gov't to urge them to stop their spending, because the post office is gonna be closed.

In all seriousness, do you think you'll even notice? State and local's gonna be just fine.

Fuck yes I'll notice. My father has a government job, unless a resolution happens tomorrow, he's out of a job. All my spending money for the next few months and what I have in-pocket has become living money, and I don't even know if I'll be able to afford to go to college if there are either permanent layoffs or no resolution for a while because of this.

Fuck every politician that claims to know what their voters want. Nobody wants this.

Jobs deemed essential(Law enforcement, politicians, etc.) are required to come to work anyway. Once a resolution is finally found, they get paid what they would've been paid, plus I think a bonus on top.

Hey Congress,

DO YOUR ****ING JOB!

I do feel like this is mostly the GOP's fault. I hope this reminds people why Dems won sweeping victories 2 years ago.

But after everything that's been screwed up in this current administration, the Right Wing wants to try to stop them from screwing it up even more. God, this is why I hate America, because our elected officials are morons.

Quite frankly, our congress is embarrassingly divided. 800,000 people could be out of a job on Friday, and certain parts of the House would rather take the shutdown than compromise...this is just sad. Also, if worst comes to worst and Gov't shuts down for more than a year, congress all voted to be paid for that year anyway.

State and local doesn't matter when you are a federal employee. I know they're saying that when the govt. shuts down, they will have all "essential" employees go to work FOR FREE and tell all the "non-essential" personnel to go home and stay there until everything gets sorted out. How long would that take? I have no idea. I work under DHS. I know Obama's opinions of DHS. Although I know that we are needed (regardless of your opinions I believe that we are needed), I have no idea which side of the rope I will be on when it comes down to essential and non-essential. I've got enough worries at the moment, and this situation right now is freaking me out to a point I don't need to be.

Nope, that's not what they want to do, if they did they would have been willing to go ahead with the massive compromises being offered, what they want is to ensure that economic recovery does not take place before the election.

There are kindergarten classes with a better sense of order than these imbeciles. This is what happens when you get elected by talking about job creation, yet spend your work time trying to put restrictions on pornography and redefine the legal terms of rape in favor of the perpetrator, though considering what they're doing to the country, it's no wonder they like that last part.
So much idiocy and crying and grandstanding can only be tolerated so much. I can't wait till the next election, though the campaigns ahead will have their share of fun to offer and bullshit to wade through (thigh-high, miles across, pungent.)

While many will be negatively affected by the shutdown, the overall attitude towards congress will be much more universally critical after the dominos start falling.

Yeah, that's great. I'll bear that in mind while I'm finding a job to help support my family at 17. We may not have any income, but people will start paying attention to politics!

I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but frankly, I'm in "I don't give a fuck" mode. I don't care if people will start being more critical, unless a solution gets put into place by the end of the month, that doesn't really matter to me as much as having money to buy food.

Gooood. I can feel your anger.

Your anger is good. You should be fucking angry. This is progress.

We live in an age of dangerous apathy. This will change that for many people.

We have a right to overthrow our government. It's just the most of America is so uneducated that they don't understand this.

Blah blah revolution. I guarantee it's not going to happen, or at least for the better - The closest thing to protest we've had in the last few years has been the Tea Party.
