so my regular input on the amp doesnt work. I dunno, Ive opened it up and the jack looks fine, but if you plug in your guitar nothing happens.

I tried plugging in to the effects loop and while it bypasses all the tone and gain controls, it gives a quite sublime clean tone that I kind of really dig.

my question is, will doing this damage the amp in any way? or vastly more importantly, my guitar....

You should be much less concerned about something breaking in your guitar than in your amp. In general, anything that can "break" in your guitar can be fixed with about $5. Amps on the other hand, are much, much more expensive to fix usually.

As long as you like the tone - you're save with plugging your axe into the return.
